There is a minor mistake in our question in second line there is 2+5=12 .
The solution of the puzzle is :
1+4=5 .....1× (4+1) =5
2+5=12 ....2×(5+1)=12
3+6=21 ....3×(6+7)=21
5+8=45 ....5×(8+1)=45.
the rule used is first number × (second number +1).
