Answer :- Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of its high water concentration through a semi permeable membrane to a region of its low water concentration. It is important because it keep equilibrium between the outside and inside environment.It happen only in liquid states.

Example of osmosis :-

• Absorption of water by plant roots.
• Absorption of water by freshwater unicellular organisms such as Amoeba.
