hey here is your answer

in the question is said that x-3 is a factor of x²+5x²-40= 0

⇒so, first find what is the value of x

x-3=0

x= 0+3

x= 3

x²+5x²-40

(3)²+5*(3)² - 40

9+ 5*9 - 40

9+ 45 - 40

9+5= 14 is the answer

hope it helps

f(x) = x-3

p(x)= x^2 + 5x^2 - 40

factor of f(x)=> x-3 = 0

=> x = 3

p(3)= 3^2 + 5(3)^2 - 40

= 9 + 45 - 40

= 9 +5

= 14

Therefore, x - 3 isn't a factor of p(x).
