(a) Antonio expected the return of "thrice three times the value of this bond" within two months, that is why he was sure that he will not forfeit the bond.

Antonio was very confident that the bond will surely not be forfeited but Bassanio did not like the "fair terms and a villain's mind" or simply he was afraid that if the bond is forfeited then Antonio will loose his life.

(b) Antonio often abused Shylock in the Rialto about his moneys and money lending, he called him misbeliever, cut-throat dog, and spit upon his Jewish garbedine.
