log( x^2- x) = log x - log 10

log ( x^2 - x) = log x/10

Compare

x^2 - x= x/10

10 x^2 - 10 x = x

10 x^2 - 10 x - x = 0

10 x^2 - 11 x = 0

x( 10 x -11) = 0

x= 0, 11/10

x can't.be 0

So its 11/10

2) y= e^( log 20) -1

We know that a^log( base a) x = x

So e^log( base e) 20 = 20

So y= 20 -1= 19
