hey mates, during any natural disaster it is important to be aware of how to handle the situation. The very first step is not to panic but to do what is necessary in a calm and composed manner.The following things should be kept in mind during an earthquake ..

1) If you are at home, try to take shelter under a table and stay away from windows .Do not use Elevators to move out.
2) Turn off your cooking gas connection from the cylinder.
3) If you are in a car, pull over to the side of the road and stop. Stay away from bridges, buildings, lamppost and similar tall structures.
4) If you are out on the streets, move away from buildings and move to clear place Iike an open field.
5) Always remember to take special care to protect your head and eyes.
6) During earthquakes one most possible disaster is fire. So Fire fighting equipment should be kept ready and Handy in all buildings.
7) In earthquake prone zones, the government should take proper steps to ensure that building plans are sanctioned only if they are satisfactorily earthquake resistant.
8) Emergency phone numbers should be made available to all citizens.
