Hey mates!!

I wanna ask you :

There is layer on the magnesium ribbon which is cleaned before burning it. What is the layer of ? Magnesium Carbonate , Magnesium Hydroxide or Magnesium Oxide?

Well in my book , it's written Magnesium Carbonate but I m still confused

Magnesium carbonate is the wrong answer . Magnesium ribbon is cleaned before burning because a layer of Magnesium oxide is formed due to the reaction of Magnesium ribbon with the oxygen present in air

So the correct answer is Magnesium oxide.
