The leaf was boiled in alcohol to remove the chporophyll present in the leaf and to remove the dead cells.

The main use of iodine in this activity is to test for the present of starch . Wherever the starch is present the iodine will turn into black color . This shows the presence of starch in that oart of the leaf .

So that the plant can make enough food for itself and so that the starch is prepared .
