Answer:

(i) 192.5 cm²

(ii) 7/3 cm (or) 2 1/3 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, radius of the can = radius of the sphere r = 3.5 cm.

Given, height of the water = diameter of the sphere = 2r = 7 cm.

(i)

We know that Total surface area of the can = πr² + 2πrh

⇒ (22/7) * (3.5)² + 2 * (22/7) * (3.5) * 7

⇒ (22/7) * 3.5[3.5 + 2 * 7]

⇒ (22/7) * 3.5 * 17.5

⇒ (22/7) * 61.25

⇒ 192.5 cm²

(ii)

Increase in water level = (Volume of sphere)/Area of base of cylinder

⇒ (4/3)πr³/πr²

⇒ (4/3)/r

⇒ (4/3)/3.5

⇒ 14/3

So,required water level = 7 - (14/3)

                                       = 7/3

                                       = 2 (1/3) cm.

Therefore:

Total Surface area of the can = 192.5 cm².

Depth of the water in the can = (7/3) cm (or) 2 1/3 cm.

Hope it helps!
