Digital divide is a term that refers to the gap between demographics and regions that have access to modern information and communications technology, and those that don't or have restricted access. This technology can include the telephone, television, personal computers and the Internet.

digital divide is the knowledge gap created when one group of people have greater access to digital resouces and so are better informed, better educated and across new developments more quickly than people who either don't have these things, or have limited access. Needless to say, the end result is increasing inequalty between the 'haves' and the 'have nots' as knowledge is today's primary currency.
