(a-b) = 0.9
(a-b)^2 = 0.81
a^2 +b^2 - 2ab = 0.81
a^2 + b^2 - 2(0.36) = 0.81
a^2 + b^2 - 0.72 = 0.81
a^2 + b^2 = 0.81+0.72
a^2 + b^2 = 1.53 ---------------(1)

Now,
(a+b) ^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab
=> (a+b) ^2 = 1.53 + 2(0.36)
=> (a+b) ^2 = 1.53 + 0.72
=> (a+b) ^2 = 2.25
=> a+b = 1.5 ------------------(2)

Now,

a^2 - b^2 = (a+b) (a-b)
a^2 - b^2 = 1.5 * 0.9
a^2 - b^2 = 1.35
