Time taken by first tap to fill a tank alone = 10 hrs

Time taken by second tap to fill the tank alone= 5 hrs

First + second tap 1 hour's work = 1/10+1/5 = 1+2/10 = 3/10

First tap 1 hour's work = 1/10

First tap 2 hours' work = 2/10 = 1/5

Now, amount of work left = 1 - 1/5 = 4/5

Now, second tap is opened.

Time taken by both the to fill the tank together = 10/3 hrs

Time taken by both the taps to fill45 of the tank together = 10/3 ×4/5 = 8/3 hours

Hence time needed to fill the tank = 2 + 8/3 = 14/3 hours = 14/3×60 min = 280 min = 4 hours 40 min
