Hey

Let the present age of son be x years

Let the present age of father be h years .

Sum of age of father and son = 50 years ( given )

So ,

x + y = 50

So , y = 50 - x –––– ( i )

After 5 years ,

Age of son = ( x + 5 ) years

Age of father = ( y + 5 ) years .

Age of father = 3 * age of son ( given )

So ,

y + 5 = 3 * ( x + 5 )

=> 3x + 15 = y + 5

=> 3x - y = - 10

Putting the value of y , we get

3x - ( 50 - x ) = -10

=> 3x + x - 50 = - 10

=> 4x = 40

=> x = 10

So ,

Age of son = 10 years .

Age of father = ( 50 - 10 ) years

= 40 years .

thanks :)
