The accusation left a deep impact on Helen. When Helen was at Fern Quarry, she had written a story called "The Frost King". Helen did not know that the story was not her own. Helen sent the story to Mr. Anagnos who was the director of the Perkins' Institution For The Blind. Mr. Anagnos published it in one of the Perkins' Institution reports which absolutely delighted Helen. However, later it was found out that a similar story called "The Frost Fairies" had been published in a book writted by Margaret T. Canby before Helen was even born. Helen was accused of plagiarism which made her feel devastated. One day, she was taken to a room where eight people were present to decided if she was guilty of plagiarism or not. She got very scared and could not even answer properly. That night, she cried so much and even wanted to die. This incident also hurt her because after it, Mr. Anagnos's loving and caring attitude towards her changed tremendously.
