Hi..

here is your answer. . ..

● The ears perform 2 sensory function and maintenance of body balance, anatomically the ear is divided into 3 main parts.

● Outer ear .

● Inner ear.

● Middle ear.

● Outer ear consists of the pinna and external auditory meatas .

● The pinna collect the vibrations in the ear which produces sounds. The external auditory metatus leads inward and extends up to the tympanic membrane.

● There are very fine hairs and wax secreting sebaceous gland in the skin of the pinna and the meatus .

● The tympanic membrane is composed of connective tissue covered with skin outside and with mucus membrane inside.

● Middle ear contains 3 ossicles called mallelus , incus and stapes

● An euastachian tube connect the middle ear cavity with the Phyranx. The euastachian tube helps in equalising the pressure on either side of the ear drum .

● The coiled portion of the labyrinthin is filled with a fluid called endolymph. Called as cochlea. it is an important part of ear...

hope it helps you. ☺

hello Rittika...
I am answering your question again -

Human Ear -

In humans ear helps in balancing and hearing, therefore also known as Stato-acoustic Organ.

Ear is differentiated in three parts.

1. External Ear -

It is further differentiated into three parts -
(a.) Ear Pinna-
It's outer part is cartilaginous and muscular know as Ear Pinna. It is situated at the lateral side head. It's lower part is soft called Lobule and Center contains an opening called Concha.
Sometimes ear pinna contain long hairs due to a Y-linked genetic disorder known as Hypertrichosis.

(b.) Auditory canal -
It is a slightly curved, tubular passage which carries sound vibration up to tympanic membrane. In its inner wall cerumen glands are present which secrets Ear wax or Celument.

(c.) Tympanic membrane -
At the end of auditory canal an oval shaped, highly streched membrane present known as Tympanic membrane. It's central part is Umbo. After receiving the sound vibration Umbo moves towards Middle Ear.

2. Middle Ear -

Middle ear forms a small cavity which opens in pharynx also through Eustachian canal. In the middle ear three bones are present, which are malleus, inchus and stapes. These bone attached together by Tensor Tympani and Stapedius. It helps in Amplification of sound up to 20 times .

3. Internal Ear -

Internal ear consist of two main parts which are Mambranous Labyrinth and Cochlea.

(a.) Mambranous Labyrinth -
Mambranous Labyrinth is protected outside by a bony covering. In a membranous Labyrinth three semi circular canals are present which are - superior, posterior and lateral semi_circular canal. These semicircular canals attaches to a sac like Utricle and these Utricle attaches to Saccule.

(b.) Cochlea - It's a coiled tubular structure with two and half coiling like a shell of snail. Length of cochlea is about 30 mm in straight condition. It had three chambers due to presence of two membranes which are Reissner's membrane and Basilar membrane. Uper and lower chambers are Scala vestibuli and Scala tympani which are filled with perilymph. Middle chamber is Scala media which is filled with endolymph.
