Given :-

  • A , B , C , D and E are sitting on a bench. A is sitting next to B, C is sitting next to D, D is not sitting with E who is on the left end of the bench. C is on the second position from the right. A is right of B and E. A and C are sitting together.

To Find :-

  • In which posting A is sitting.

Solution :-

A , B , C , D and E are sitting on a bench.

A is sitting next to B.

  • It's means that B is sitting left to A.

C is sitting next to D.

  • It's means that D is sitting right to C.

➠ But, D is not sitting with E who is left end of the bench.

C is on the second position from the right.

  • It's means that C is second last from the right end.

A is right of B and E.

  • It's means that A will be in the middle.

A and C are sitting together.

For, sitting arrangement, please see attachment.

The posting of A is sitting between B and C.

Hence, the correct options is option no a) B and C.

Solution :-

Correct Arrangement ::

We see that we are given many details about the positioning of A, B, C, D and E. It is given that A is sitting next to B and C is sitting next to D. It is also given that D is not sitting with E which means that D is not sitting next to E. Even it is also given that E is on the left end of the bench. C is on second position from the right end, that means either on its left or right side, there will D. But it is also given that A is sitting together with C so either side of C, either there will be D or A.

In the image attached, we see that all of the conditions satisfy.

E is on the left end of bench.

A is one right side of B and E.

C is on left of A and right of D.

________________________________

~ Checking Each Options separately ::

Option A ::

a) between B and C

This option is correct. The reason is because from the correct figure of the question, we see that A is sitting between B and C. Even the position of A justifies its given dependencies ; it is on right of E; sitting next to C ; sitting next to B and at right of B.

So this option is correct answer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Option B ::

b) between E and D

This option is incorrect. The reason is because from the correct figure of the question, we see that if A would have been sitting between E and D, then D would have been at place of B (in correct figure) because E is on left end. And if D would have been at place of B (in correct figure) then it won't have been at next of C which is at second position from right.

So this option is incorrect answer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Option C ::

c) between C and E

This option is incorrect. The reason because if A would have been C and E, then C would have been at position of B (in correct figure) which won't justify the position of C which has to be at second position from right. E can't move to other position because according to the question E has to be at left end. And if C would come to place of B (in correct figure) , then it won't be either sitting together with D which also won't satisfy the needs of question.

So this option is incorrect answer.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Option D ::

d) between B and E

This option is incorrect. If A would have been in between B and E, then B has to move at place of A (in correct figure) and A will come at place of B. But in question it is given that A and C are sitting together. So if A moves to position of B (in correct figure) then the question and condition for position of C won't satisfy. And C also can't be moved because it has to be on 2nd position from right end and E also can't be moved because it has to be at left end

So this option is incorrect answer.

Thus correct option is option a) between B and C.

*Note : (in correct figure) mentions the position of respective person in the image attached.
