Please answer my question
Q.Pratyush took sulphur powder on a spatula and heated it. He collected gas evolved by inverting a test tube over it.

(a) What will be the action of gas on
(i) Dry litmus paper?
(ii) moist litmus paper?​

Explanation:

dry litmus paper will remain unchanged , while moist litmus paper will change its Colour from blue to red .

this is because by heating sulphur we get sulphur dioxide (SO2) which don't have H+ ions .

but when sulphur dioxide gets moisture (H2O) it forms H2SO3 which contains active H+ ion . when a litmus come in contact of H+ ion it changes its Colour from blue to red .
