• The main cause for this day was irresponsible congress.

• As, Congress didn't fill the demands of Muslim League.

• Thus, Muslim League decided to spread violence as their demands cannot be met through discussions.

• On 16th August 1946, Muslim League announced that day as "Direct Action".

• On this day, riots came on streets and started killing thousands of people.

• This violence led to killing of thousands of people and many lost their homes.

• This violence spreaded rapidly throughout Northern India.

• This day is one of the major cause for Partition of Pakistan.
