- Distance is the total actual pathlength covered by a body from the initial point to the final point while displacement is the shortest straight line path between the two points.
- Distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.
- Distance of a moving object can never be zero while the displacement can be zero and negative too.
- Between any two points infinite number of distances can be possible but there's only one displacement.
- Displacement is a distance but not all distances are displacement.
