The First Battle of Panipat, on 21 April 1526, was fought between the invading forces of Babur and the Lodi Kingdom.

The Second Battle of Panipat was fought on November 5, 1556, between the Hindu Emperor of Delhi Hem Chandra Vikramaditya and forces of Mughal Emperor Akbar.

The Third Battle of Panipat took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat, about 60 miles (97 km) north of Delhi, between a northern expeditionary force of the Maratha Empire and invading forces of the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Abdali.

Panipat - City in Haryana

Three important Battles were fought at Panipat ( the present city of Haryana ) :-

• The first Battle of Panipat was fought in 1526 between Babar ( the first Mughal Emperor ) and Ibrahim Lodhi. The armies of Ibrahim Lodhi were defeated by the armies of  Babar.

• The Second Battle of Panipat took place in 1556 between Akbar ( the greatest of the Mughal emperors ) and Hemu. Hemu had to face the defeat.

• The third battle of Panipat occured in the year 1761. The Afghans and the Marathas were in the battlefield. The Afghans under the command of Ahmed Shah Abdali came out with flying colours while Marathas had to flee from the battlefield.
