Firstly, Magadha produced powerful rulers like Bimbisara, Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka etc. Initially, it was Bimbisara who invaded on the republic state of Anga. After this expedition, he further expanded his kingdom resulting in the territorial expansion of his empire. Magadha empire became more and more powerful as Bimbisara kept expanding his territorial extent.

Secondly, Iron-ore deposits in Odisha, Jharkhand and the adjacent areas as well as rich Copper deposits in Jharkhand provided Magadha the raw material for weaponry this is also a vital factor when it comes to rise of Magadha.
