1) Answer : The Archimede's principle states that when a body is partially or wholly immersed in a fluid at rest , the fluid exerts an upward force of buoyancy equal to the weight of displaced fluid .

2) Answer : If the weight of displaced fluid (B) equals to the weight of the body (w) , the solid will remain in equilibrium . This is called floatation .

B = W , is also known as principle of floatation .
