• What is NRC?

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a registry maintained by the Government of India containing names & certain relevant information for identification of Indian citizens of the Assam state.

The register was first prepared after the 1951 Census of India and since then it has not been updated until recently.

• Information About NRC

Other than that, applicants also had the option to present documents such as :-

• Refugee Registration Certificate
• birth certificate
• LIC policy
• land and tenancy records
• citizenship certificate
• passport
• government issued licence or certificate
• bank/post office accounts
• Permanent Residential Certificate.

• Criteria for NRC

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is the register containing names of Indian Citizens. The only time that a National Register of Citizens (NRC) was prepared was in 1951 when after the conduct of the Census of 1951, the NRC was prepared by recording particulars of all the persons enumerated during that Census.
