Anabolism refers to the process which builds molecules the body needs; it usually requires energy for completion. Catabolism refers to the process that breaks down complex molecules into smaller molecules; it usually releases energy for the organism to use.

  • Anabolism is a constructive process in which simpler substances are converted into complex.
  • catabolism is reverse to anabolism I.e it breaks down the complex molecules into simpler ones.
  • these two together constitute metabolism.
  • growth is defined as the difference b/w anabolism and catabolism.
  • if anabolism is more than catabolism then it is +ve growth and the body increases it's growth.
  • if anabolism is less than catabolism then it is negative growth.
  • if anabolism and catabolism both are equal then no growth occurs in body.

hope it helps!!!!!!
