Treaty of Amritsar was signed on 16 March 1846, This was a suitable arrangement between East India Company and Gulab Singh Dogra. after the 1st Anglo-Indian war, It was a treaty formalising The arrangements of the Treaty of Lahore. In the treaty of 1846 Maharaja Gulab Singh Engages his heirs to join the military force and in turn The British army promised Raja Gulab Singh that they will give him all kind of protection from external enemies,Maharaja Gulab Singh cannot change his territory without the permission of the British government,The eastern boundary of the track transferred by the foregoing article of Maharaja Gulab Singh shall be relinquished by the commissioners of the British government.

Treaty of Amritsar March 16, 1846

The treaty between the British Government on the one part and Maharajah Gulab Singh of Jammu on the other concluded on the part of the British Government by Frederick Currie, Esq. and Brevet-Major Henry Montgomery Lawrence, acting under the orders of the Rt. Hon. Sir Henry Hardinge, G.C.B., one of her Britannic Majesty's most Honorable Privy Council, Governor-General of the possessions of the East India Company, to direct and control all the affairs in the East Indies and by Maharajah Gulab Singh in person - 1846.
