the human digestive system starts from the
1)buccal cavity
2)esophagus
3)stomach
4)small intestine
5)large intestine
6)rectum
7)anus
the food travels through this long canal which is also called as alimentary canal.

THE BUCCAL CAVITY-
in the buccal cavity the food breaks into smaller pieces and the salivary glands present in the mouth help makes the food soft and helps in swallowing. the teeth, tongue and the salivary glands are a part of the buccal cavity.

THE ESOPHAGUS-
the esophagus is a long pipe through which the chewed food travels into the stomach. this pipe is also known as the food pipe.

THE STOMACH-
the stomach is in the shape of a flattned U. the inner lining of the stomach produces digestive juices such as mucous, hydrochloric acid and digestive juices. the mucous protects the lining of the stomach. the acids kills many bacteria which enter the stomach through with the food.the digestive juices break down proteins.just beside the stomach we have a reddish brown coloured gland known as the liver. this gland secreates a digestive juice called the bile juice. this juice is to red in a separate sack like structur

THE SMALL INTESTINE-
the small intestine is about 7.5 meters long and is highly coiled. the absorption of food also takes place here.

THE LARGE INTESTINE
THE waste food materials now come to the large intestine. here some water and salts are absorbed and the rest is stored in the rectum as semi solid faeces. this waste is removed from time to time and is called question.

HEY!!

The organs or glands which help in digestion are:-

✔ MOUTH= Digestion of food begins in the mouth. The mouth comprises of the following :-

✴Teeth= They helps in tearing and breaking down the food into small particles.

✴Saliva = Saliva helps in secretion of food. In the digestion process, the saliva helps the teeth and tongue to masticate and mix up the food thoroughly.

✴Tongue = It helps in tasting buds, which help us to differentiate between various food items. The muscular movements in the tongue move the food from the mouth into the throat, or pharynx.

✔Pharynx =  It is a common passage or we can say way for food and air. It opens into the oesophagus (which leads to the stomach) and trachea (which leads to the lungs).

✔Oesophagus( food pipe) =  The circular smooth muscles in the oesophagus contract when food is swallowed. This prevents the chewed food material from moving back into the mouth.

✔STOMACH = The stomach stores and mixes the food received from the oesophagus with the gastric juice. The gastric glands present in the walls of the stomach secrete several substances, which together constitute the gastric juice.

✔SMALL INTESTINE = It is the longest part of the alimentary canal. It is made up of three parts- duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The small intestine produces intestinal juice from the glands present in the wall, which helps in further digestion of food.

Digestive juices from two glands, liver and pancreas  mixes with the food in the small intestine.

✔LARGE INTESTINE = The indigestible material and water enters the large intestine. It also has villi to absorb water and some vitamins from the undigested food. This absorption of water helps to compact the faeces. It also performs the function of storage of wastes before they are excreted from the body through the anus.
