A syllable is basically "one" sound that can be uttered at a time. It is a unit of organised vowels and/or a vowel or consonant.
For example, take the word finicky.
It's syllable breakdown will be fin-ih-kee
here, notice that each part separated by hyphen is a vowel (or two) with a constant on either of or both ends.
Too can be removed by use of also as in:
I wanted that too!
I also wanted that.
