Heya Frnds........☺



1) One half of a convex lens of focal length 10 cm is covered with a black paper. can such a lens produce an image of a complete object placed at a distance of 30 cm from the lens.

2) Also verify the ray diagram given above in the image.

Hey there,

Yes. One way to think about this is to imagine the lens to be made up of small lenses, i.e. divide the lens into small parts. Now each part refracts light through it and contributes to the final image. When half of the lens is covered, only the other half contributes to the image, thus intensity of the image gets halved but form of the image is unchanged.
