1)

Average speed = 45 km/hr.

Time = 3 + 20/60 hr

= 3 + 1/3 hr

= 10/3 hr

Distance = 45 × 10/3

⇒ d = 150 km

At the speed of 36 km.hr , t = 150/36

⇒ t = 25/6 hr

⇒ t = 4 + 1/6 hr

⇒ t = 4 hrs 10 minutes.

2)

Camp is of 630 men and lasts for 25 days.

For 1 men, the food will last for 630 × 25 days.

1 day is equivalent to 1/630 × 25 men.

30 days is equivalent to 30/(630 × 25) men

⇒ 1/(21 × 25) men

Inverse variation and hence :

⇒ 115 × 5 ⇒ 525 men

So men needed to be transferred = 630 - 525 = 105.

105 men is the answer.

Q6- Speed=Distance/Time

= 45=d/3+20/60

=45×3+1/3=d

=150=d

Distance = 150km

S=D/T

=36=150/t

=t=150/36

=t=25/6

=t=4+1/6

=t=4 hours 10 mins

Q7- No. of men=630

No. of days = 25

Food eaten by 1 man in 1 day = 630×25days

1 day equivalent to= 1/630×25men

30 days equivalent to = 30/635×25

=30/(21×25)

In inverse proportion,

115×5=525

Men needed to be transferred = 630-525=105

Ans=105
