hey my dear :)

panchami are u doing well,i hope you are!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Let us Balance this Equation by the concept of the Oxidation number method.

∴ General Steps ⇒

Step 1. First Write the Given Redox Reaction.

MnO₄ + I⁻ -------- MnO₂ + I₂

Step2.  Identify Oxidation and Reduction half Reaction.

MnO₄ ------ MnO₂ [Reduction]

I⁻ --------I₂   [Oxidation]

Step3. Balance the atoms undergoing change in the Oxidation number.

∴ MnO₄  -------- MnO₂   [Change of 4 units].

2I⁻  ---------- I₂    [Change of 2 units]

Step 4 .Multiply 1st equation by 1 and second equation by 2.

∴ MnO₄  -------- MnO₂  and 4I⁻  ---------- 2I₂

Step 5. Now, Add both the equations,

∴ 4I⁻ + MnO₄   ---------- I₂  +  MnO₂

Step 6. Now, Balance the charges by adding water and Hydrogen ions.

∴ 4I⁻ + MnO₄  + 2H₂O ---------- I₂  +  MnO₂  + 4OH⁻

This is the Required balanced Chemical Equation.

Hope it helps you!!

thanks!!

Answer:

Actually welcome to the concept of Redox reaction :-

Redox reaction :- The reaction in which their is always change in oxidation number of species is called redox reaction.

To balance a redox reaction:-

  1. Check which species change their oxidation number.
  2. Now, write them and balance the species one by one by one separately.
  3. First balance the atom and then charge.
  4. If their is less oxygen add water and if their is less hydrogen add H+ ion.
  5. Now,multiply with suitable whole number to cancel the electron.
  6. If reaction is in acidic medium add H+ ion if reaction is in basic add OH- .
