Let he worked for x days and absent for (20-x) days.

So, for working days he earns 120x and for absent he gave fines of (20-x)* (-5),

So, the equation will be

=> 120x + (20-x) * (-10) = 1880

=> 120x - (20 - x) * 10 = 1880

=> 130x = 1880

=> x = 16

So, He worked only for 16 days, Now we need to calculate the number of days he was absent, so it will be 20 - 16 = 4 days.

Hence,the laborer remain absent for  4  days.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of days be x

Number of days he was absent = 20

Then...

120x -10 (20 - x) = 1880

120x - 200 + 10x = 1880

130x = 2080

x = 16

So....

20 - x = 20 - 16 = 4 days
