Heya mates !!

Find the number and its two parts if a number is divided into two parts such that one is 14 more than other and two parts are in the ratio 7 : 5 .

Let the first part be x

Let the second part be x + 14

According to the question,

x + \dfrac{14}{x} = \dfrac{7}{5}

5(x + 14) = 7x

5x + 70 = 7x

70 = 7x - 5x

2x = 70

x = \dfrac{70}{2}

x = 35

___________________


1st part of the number is x

\therefore{} 1st part = \underline{ \underline{35}}


2nd part is x + 14

\therefore{} 2nd art => 35 + 14 = \underline{ \underline{49}}

Original number => 35 + 49 = \underline{ \underline{84}}

Let the required number be a,


According to the question, if a number is divided into two parts such that one is 14 more than other and two parts are in the ratio 7 : 5


Let,  

    first part be x

    other part be ( x + 14 ), 14 more than other



Ratio of the two parts = 7 : 5

= > ( x + 14 ) : x = 7 : 5

= > ( x + 14 ) / x = 7 / 5

= > 5( x + 14 ) = 7x

= > 5x + 70 = 7x

= > 70 = 7x - 5x

= > 70 = 2x

= > 70 / 2 = x

= > 35 = x



Therefore, first part of a = x  = 35

                   second part of a = x + 14

                                                = 35 + 14

                                                 = 49


a = sum of both the parts

a = first part + second part

a = 35 + 49

a = 84


Therefore, required number is 84 and parts are 49 and 35 .
