Heya mates please help me☺
Experiment :
i) To observe the action of Zn, Fe, Cu and Al metals on the following salt solutions:
a. ZnSO4 (aq)
b. FeSO4 (aq)
c. CuSO4 (aq)
d. Al2(SO4)3 (aq)
ii) Arrange Zn, Fe, Cu and Al (metals) in the decreasing order of reactivity based on the above result.

Practical : ↓
- AIM : To observe the actions of Zn, Fe, Cu and Al metals with above said salt solutions.
- Theory : The higher the place in reactivity series, It will displace the metals with lower place in reactivity series. (Displacement Reactions Occur).
- Materials Required : Zinc Metal Strip, Iron Metal Strip, Copper Metal Strip, Aluminium Metal Strip, Solution, Solution, Solution, Solution, 4 100 mL beakers, Foreceps.
Procedure :
- Add 20ml of solution of Solution, Solution, Solution, Solution.
- Take a strip of clean Zinc metal and cut it into small pieces.
- Add two pieces into each beaker containing Solution, Solution, Solution.
- Keep the beakers undisturbed.
- Note the change in colour of solutions, appearance of metal surface or any other change.
- Repeat the similar procedure by adding :
- Copper strips to Solution, Solution, Solution.
- Aluminium strips to Solution, Solution, Solution.
- Iron strips to Solution, Solution, Solution.
- Observations :
Metal Zinc :
- Zinc. (Added to Solution.)
- Blue color of disappears and red-brown copper particles settle down
- {Inference} Zn can displace Cu from solution
- Zinc. (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colorless. (No Change.)
- {Inference}Zn cannot displace Al from solution.
- Zinc. (Added to Solution.)
- Green colour of ferrous sulphate disappears. Iron metal is settles down.
- {Inference} Zn can displace Fe from FeSO4 solution.
Metal Copper :
- Copper (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colorless.
- {Inference} Cu cannot displace Fe from solution.
- Copper (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colorless.
- {Inference} Cu cannot displace Zn from solution.
- Copper (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colorless.
- {Inference} Cu cannot displace Zn from solution.
Metal Aluminium :
- Aluminium (Added to Solution.)
- Iron metal is settles down
- {Inference} Al can displace Fe from solution.
- Aluminium (Added to Solution.)
- Zinc metal is settles down
- {Inference} Al can displace Zn from solution.
- Aluminium (Added to Solution.)
- Copper metal is settles down
- {Inference} Al can displace Cu from solution.
Metal Iron :
- Iron (Added to Solution.)
- Copper metal is settles down
- {Inference} Fe can displace Cu from solution.
- Iron (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colourless.
- {Inference} Fe can not displace Zn from solution.
- Iron (Added to Solution.)
- Solution remains colourless.
- {Inference} Fe can not displace Al from solution.
- Conclusion :
- Al > Zn > Fe > Cu.
- Precautions :
- Do not touch any chemical.
- Always clean the metallic strips before use with a sand paper.
Thanks!
