P(E) = \dfrac{Number\;of\;favorable\;outcomes}{Number\;of\;total\;outcomes}

Here, we are assuming that 365 outcomes are equally likely.

Number of favourable outcomes = 365

(i) Number of favourable outcomes = 365 - 1 = 364

P(different birthdays) = \dfrac{364}{365}

(ii) Number of favourable outcomes = 1

P(the same birthday) = \dfrac{1}{365}
