A metal E is stored under kerosene. When a small piece of it is Left Open in the air it catches fire . When the product formed is dissolved in water, it turns red litmus to blue :

✴name the metal E.
✴write the chemical equation for the reaction when it is exposed to air and when the product is dissolved in water .
✴explain the process by which the metal is obtained from its molten chloride

The metal is sodium.The chemical equation of when it is exposed in air is sodium hydroxile film. in water it is sodium hydroxide and hydrogen.

the equestion is given below

2Na+2H2O->2NaOH+H2

The sodium metal has such chamical property that if it comes under the presence of water partical or humidity then it catches fire because according to reactivity series sodium is high reactive metal.
