Answer:

1. a) H+ in water

according to arrhenius definition of acid

2. d) double salt

because it contains two cations

3. b) bacl2

It's not a Lewis acid. This is because Barium loses two electrons (losing 2 valence electrons and thus attaining noble gas config) and the chlorine atoms gain one electron each to form chloride ions (now containing 8 electrons in its valence shell). Both species thus have complete octets.

Solution :-

1) Now as the Arrhenius Concept says that when any acid is dissolved in water it dissociates and give H⁺ ion .

So your answer is option (A)

2) Potash Alum is a double salt as is contains two sulphate salts , Potassium and Aluminum

K_2SO_4.Al_2(SO_4)_3.24H_2O

So Answer is option (D)

3) Now as Lewis concept says that the the species which have the potential to accept a pair of electron is acid .

Now as we can see that

BF_3 can accept a pair of electron , hence a Lewis acid

BCl_2 Now both of them have a complete octate hence , they cannot accept a pair of electron.

So BCl_2 is not a Lewis acid .

So Answer is option (B)
