Mass is the amount of matter or inertia(that is according to newton)

but weight is how the gravity pull as towards th centre

however the gravity is not same for all planets.it varies according to size

hence weight is not equal to mass

the mass and the weight are equal when the acceleration due to gravity is 1. becuase when mass is multiplied with 1 gives weight ...here m *1=w,m=w.

coming to the matter .. on earth there is no constant gravity at every place .. it changes ... so some of the times when g not equal to 1.

we will get m not equal to w ....

hope helpss...
