A) Alimentary canal: It compromises the following parts:-
1) Mouth: Human mouth consists of two parts vestibule and the oral or buccal cavity which further have palate and the tongue
• It has the papillae in which it consists of vallate papillae or circumvallate papilla, filiform papillae, fungiform papillae and foliate papillae
• Teeth are consisted here they are diphyodont (two sets of teeth milk teeth and permanent teeth), thecodont and heterodont teeth.
2) Pharynx (throat): Divided into three parts; the nasopharynx, oropharynx and laryngopharynx. It is a common passage for food and air.
3) Oesophagus: transfers food from the pharynx to stomach.
4) Stomach: has four parts: cardiac, fundus, body and pyloric part.It stores food for some time churns and breaks up the food and mixes the pieces with gastric food.
5) Small intestine: it compromises of three parts duodenum, jujenum and ileum. Completes the digestion of the proteins, carbohydrates, fats and nucleic acids.
6) Large intestine: Divisible into three parts; caecum, colon and rectum. Functions the absorption of water and elimination of solid wastes.
