Salt consists of a positive ion of the base and negative ion of the acid..
The reaction of base and acid is called neutralisation..

salt is neither a base nor an acid....it is formed by the reaction of acid and base which is called nuetralization reaction.....
let me give u examples:
ACID- they are substances which when is dissolved in water dissociated and gives a positive in called hydronium ion...
ex: HNO3, H2SO4 ,HCl
BASE- they are either metallic oxide or hydroxide and nothing else which when dissociated in water gives hydroxyl ion which is a negative ion.
ex: NaOH, CaO
( ANYTHING WITH HYDROXIDES AND OXIDES IS BASE AND ANYTHING WITH HYDROGEN IS ACID .TO MAKE IT SIMPLEE FOR YA)
NOW SALTS- They are formed when a base and an acid react.
ex: HCL + NaOH ----- NaCl + H2O
( I used the examples given by me above so that itll be easier for u and of course u know what NaCl is)
HOPE IT HELPED U!!!
