On electronic configuration of the Carbon atom , there are two unpair electron bt its four unpair electron take part in the bond formation , why ?

Bcoz two unpair electrons are in ground state and bonds form in its excited state so, when corbon is connect with any compound then its four unpair electron take part in bond formation.
