Heya !!

Prove the theorem - 6.1

If two each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.

Help needed !!

Theorem 6.1 :

If two lines intersect each other then the vertically opposite angles are equal.

Refer the attachment for figure.

In the given figure, AB and CD are two lines which are intersecting at a point.


Since AB and CD are lines,

x + y = 180° (linear pair)

also,

a + y = 180°

Equating the two we get,

x + y = a + y

=> x = a

Similarly,

x + b = 180°

x + y = 180°

=> x + y = x + b

=> y = b

Hence, vertically opposite angles are equal
