   \frac{x}{2} - 1 = 3 \\ \frac{x}{2} = 3 + 1 \\ \frac{x}{2} = 4 \\ x = 4 \times 2 \\ x = 8

 \frac{x}{ - 7} x = - 2 \\ \frac{2x}{ - 7} = - 2 \\ 2x = ( - 2) \times ( - 7) \\ 2x = 14 \\ x = 14 \div 2 \\ x = 7
