Hey!!!!

Good Evening

Topic : Substitution Method

Sample Example

2x - y = 1 -------- (1)and

4x + 2y = 2 -----------(2)

Now In substitution method , we derive the value of x or y from either of the given linear pair of equations and use that derived value in the one which is left. let's apply this method in my sample example

In (1)

=> 2x - y = 1

=> y = 2x - 1 ------- (3)

Substituting the value of (3) in (2)

=> 4x + 2(2x - 1) = 2

You can observe that now we have only one variable so it's easy for us to calculate it's value

=> 4x + 4x - 2 = 2

=> 8x = 4

=> x = 1/2 <<<<<<<< Answer

Now we will use this value of x in (3)

=> y = 2(1/2) - 1

=> y = 0 <<<<<<<<<<< Answer

This is called the Substitution method of Solving linear pair of equations

Firstly Thanks for asking this question

<< Here is your answer which you are searching for >>

Substitution Method is very simple

Let Suppose ,

In Substitution method we have given equation like

x +y =14 and x-y = 4

Firstly take it as

x+y =14 ----> 1 eq
x-y =4----> 2 eq

From 1 eq
x+y =14
y =14-x -----3eq

From 2eq
x-y =4
x -(14-x) =4
x-14+x=4
2x =4+14
2x =18
x=18/2
x=9

put x =9 in eq.3
y=14-9
y=5
