Let x = length of an edge of the original cube
.
Volume of original cube = x^3
.
if the edge was halved:
length of edge = x/2
.
Volume of halved cube = (x/2)^3 = x^3/2^3 = x^3/8

Hey mate here is the answer

When the edge of the cube became halved then the resultant volume of the cube is the 1/8th of the original cube.

Hope it helps you
