PARENCHYMA

  • Parenchyma is an unspecialised simple permanent tissue.
  • Their shape may be oval, round, polygonal or elongated in shape.
  • They have thin cell wall made of cellulose.
  • They have large intracellular spaces between them.
  • They have neucleus in their cell and hence living.
  • They are present in plant's roots, stems, leaves, flowers or fruits.

COLLENCHYMA

  • Collenchyma is an specialised simple permanent tissue.
  • Their shape may be transversed or longitudnal.
  • They have thick wall with deposits of hemicellulose, and pectin.
  • They have less intracellular spaces between them.
  • They have neucleus in their cell and are living.
  • It is found below epidermis of leaf stalk and leaf mid-ribs.

Answer:

\huge\boxed{Parenchyma}

•Parenchyma cells are present in the epidermis, cortex, pith and pericycle. Meristematic cells are parenchymatous.

•Thin cell wall

•Intercellular space is present

•No pectin deposition

•Shape - Isodiametric

•Permanent tissue

\red{functions}

→Storage of food materials.

→ Chlorenchyma carries out photosynthesis.

→ Aerenchyma helps aquatic plants in floating and gaseous exchange.

\huge\boxed{Collenchyma}

•It occurs in the peripheral part of elongating organs like stem and petiole, usually appearing as a continuous ring beneath the epidermis.

•Unequally thickened cell wall

•Intercellular space is absent.

•Pectin deposition is found at the corners.

•Shape - Polygonal.

•Permanent tissue sometimes revives meristematic activity.

\red{functions}

→ It gives mechanical support.

→ It can resist bending and stretching caused by winds.

→ It carries out photosynthesis if chloroplast are present.
