1.Zero is used to represent nothingness, or in more mathematical terms, the absence of a quantity.

But in those years mathematicians were unable to perform the simplest arithmetic calculations.

Different words were symbolized earlier like sky and void to depict the absence of quantity .

Pingala an Indian scholar used binary numbers and he was the first who use ‘shunya’ for zero as a Sanskrit word.

Brahmagupta a scholar and mathematician defined zero and its operation and developed a symbol for it which is a dot underneath the numbers.

But, Aryabhatta a great mathematician and an astronomer used zero in the decimal system.

The number Zero is a symbol which does not have any value of itself either before or after the Decimal.

The absence of a zero- symbol precludes the use of the decimal point in writing fractions having values less than 0.1 .

The Greeks understood mathematics better than the Egyptians did;once they mastered the Egyptian art of Geometry, Greek mathematicians quickly surpassed their teachers.
