Hello Aananya

Gametogenesis in males is called spermatogenesis. Female gametogenesis is called oogenesis. The second figure shows the similarities and differences between maturation of the ovum and the spermatids. Both the oocytes and spermatocytes are called gametocytes.

In species with two separate sexes, the sex that produces the smaller and more motile sex cell or gamete is called the male. Male mammals produce gametes called sperm while female mammals produce gametes called eggs.

\huge\bold\pink{Hello!!!!!}

Gametogenesis

the process in which cells undergo meiosis to form gametes.

Gametogenesis is the process of formation and differentiation of haploid gametes (sperms and ova) from the diploid primary germ cells, gametogonia (spermatogonia and oogonia) present in primary sex organs called gonads (testes in male and ovaries in female respectively).

Organ responsible

The reproductive organs in both males and females (testes and ovaries, respectively) begin gametogenesis with a primitive germ cell.
