Given
There is a figure with a quadrant of a Circle with
- Radius 7 cm.
Inside the quadrant there is a triangle with
- base = 7cm and
- height = 2 cm.
To Find
The area of shaded region.
Formula to be Used
Area of a Quadrant of a Circle = πr² / 4
where,
r is Radius of Circle and
Area of a Triangle = ( Base × Height ) / 2
Solution
Area of shaded region = Area of Quadrant of Circle - Area of Triangle
So,
Area of quadrant of a Circle with r = 7 cm
= πr² / 4
= π( 7 )² / 4
= 22/7 × 7 × 7 × 1/4
= 38.50 cm²
Area of Quadrant of Circle is 38.50 cm².
Now,
Area of Triangle = ( 7 cm × 2 cm ) / 2
Area of Triangle = 7 cm²
Area of Triangle is 7 cm².
Now, applying
Area of Shaded Region = Area of Quadrant of Circle - Area of Triangle
Area of Shaded Region = ( 38.50 - 7 ) cm²
Area of Shaded Region = 31.50 cm²
Answer
Area of the Shaded Region is 31.50 cm².
