✔ Girdles are the parts of skeleton which helpnto articulate the limb bones to main (axial) skeleton. There are two types of girdles :- The shoulder and hip girdle.

✔ The shoulder pectoral girdle consists of two flat triangular scapula which lie dorsally on the upper ribs on either side of the vertebral column in the thorax region. Its outer apex bears a large somewhat cup-shaped GLENOID CAVITY.

✔ The upper raised part which is long and curved is the collar bone portion of the girdle.

✔ The hip pelvic girdle is a large trough-shaped part formed by two hip bones that are joined medially to the Sacrum. The large cup-shaped articular cavity is also known as acetabulum. The hip girdle not only gives support to the skeleton of the hind limbs but also protects and supports the abdominal organs.
