 \tan( \alpha )  =  \frac{h}{a}
 \tan(90 -  \alpha )  =  \frac{h}{b}  \\  \cot( \alpha )  =  \frac{h}{b} \\  \tan( \alpha )  =  \frac{b}{h}
now
 \frac{h}{a}  =  \frac{b}{h}  \\  {h}^{2}  = ab \\ h =  \sqrt{ab}
